GRANITE CUFFLINKS
History
The first granite stone laid for the Harbour walls took place on the 31st May 1817, the construction took forty-two years to complete at a cost of one million pounds (circa one billion euro today). For nearly one hundred years it was the largest man made Harbour in the world. The granite was excavated locally, mainly from Dalkey quarry and today, two hundred years later it is still considered to be an amazing feat of engineering.

St Patricks Day Goverment Gift 2023
In 2023, Celtic Frames had the honor of crafting a bespoke silver bell for the Irish government, intended as a St. Patrick’s Day gift to Vice President Kamala Harris. This unique creation recognizes the United States’ enduring contribution to the peace process in Ireland, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement. Silver, a traditional gift for such a milestone, underscores the significance of this historic occasion. Bells symbolize peace, a resonance deeply rooted in Irish tradition. Notably, a Peace Bell was placed in Áras an Uachtaráin’s grounds for the tenth anniversary of the Agreement. This gift also honors St. Patrick, as one of Ireland’s treasured artifacts is the bell of St. Patrick, dating back to the 8th-9th centuries AD. The bell carries strong symbolism in the United States too, with the Liberty Bell standing as an iconic emblem of American freedom. Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff recently highlighted this connection by lighting a Liberty Bell Menorah during Hannukah at the White House, further enriching the cultural and historical significance of this bespoke gift.
